Jim Sanders was appointed President of Enbridge Gas Distribution in February 2017. His responsibilities include the leadership and operations of Enbridge Gas Distribution as well as its three affiliate companies Gazifère, Enbridge Gas New Brunswick and St. Lawrence Gas. Jim is also a member of the Niagara Gas Transmission Limited Board of Directors.
With 30 years of experience in the energy industry, Jim has held roles at Nuclear Activation Services, Union Gas, Duke Energy and Enbridge Gas Distribution in engineering, operations, sales and business development. Jim’s natural gas work has included the design, construction and operation of distribution, transmission and storage assets in Canada and the United States.
Jim joined Enbridge in 2006 and most recently was Vice President, Engineering and Asset Management for Enbridge Gas Distribution.
He earned a Master’s of Engineering and Public Policy from McMaster University in Hamilton and a Bachelor of Applied Science (Civil Engineering) at the University of Waterloo. He is a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario.
Jim is an active supporter of the United Way and is currently a co-chair for the Toronto and York Region United Way Cabinet. He is a Director for the Chicago-based Gas Technology Institute’s Operations Technology Development group and the Chair of the Gas Council for the Ontario Technical Standards and Safety Authority.
Jim and his wife, Jane, have a son and daughter and call Toronto home.
