The OEB holiday timeout period will be from December 16, 2023, to January 7, 2024. During this period, the OEB will generally avoid issuing decisions and documents that require immediate action from recipients except in instances where it could impact the implementation of January 1st rates or time-sensitive approvals. The OEB will also consider requests by parties to issue documents during the holiday timeout period.

The OEB has updated its Accounting Procedures for Electricity webpage to improve user experience through a new, modernized layout.

The OEB has accepted an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance from Heidelberg Materials Canada Limited, an electricity wholesaler. The Assurance responds to non-compliance related to operation in the electricity market without a wholesaler licence.

The OEB and IESO have released their Joint Targeted Call Interim Report on distributed energy resource integration, providing an update on pilot projects supported by the OEB Innovation Sandbox and IESO Grid Innovation Fund. This partnership reflects each organization’s dedication to driving positive change in Ontario’s energy landscape, with the aim of enhancing grid efficiency, resiliency and sustainability while enabling customer choice in the face of evolving energy needs and technologies.

The OEB has published it's “What We Heard” report summarizing stakeholder input from Policy Day 2023 on October 12, 2023. Alongside the sector, the OEB must adapt and evolve to enable the energy transition. The discussion and invaluable feedback we received will support our forward work plan for the next business planning cycle.

The OEB has issued for comment recommendations for changes to the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program Emergency Financial Assistance.

The OEB has released an updated variance settlement factor that is to be used by electricity distributors to calculate a one-time credit or charge for consumers who choose to stop purchasing electricity through the Regulated Price Plan. This factor is called the "Final RPP Variance Settlement Factor" and is updated on the OEB website monthly.

The OEB is hosting a meeting to engage stakeholders on the Reporting and Record-keeping Requirements (RRR) for Ontario’s licensed electricity distributors, as part of the RRR Consultation launched last fall. This meeting provides the OEB an opportunity to share information on upcoming changes to the RRR and gather feedback on future updates to ensure it is adapting to the needs of an evolving electricity sector.
