Enbridge Gas Inc. – 2024-2028 Natural Gas Distribution Rates - Phase Two

Enbridge Gas Inc.
EB-2024-0111

Enbridge Gas has applied for approval of rates for the sale, distribution, transmission, and storage of gas commencing January 1, 2024. Enbridge Gas has also applied for approval of an incentive rate-making mechanism (IRM) for the years from 2025 to 2028. This is the first cost-based rate application for Enbridge Gas since the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) approved the amalgamation of Enbridge Gas Distribution and Union Gas.

The OEB also sets the prices that natural gas customers pay for the natural gas (the commodity) that they use. Changes to commodity prices are made through the Quarterly Rate Adjustment Mechanism (QRAM) process, which is separate from the 2024 rates application described above.

The QRAM is the process by which the OEB adjusts the natural gas prices to reflect changes in natural gas market prices. The OEB does not allow Enbridge Gas to earn a profit on the sale of natural gas, regardless of market fluctuations in price.
