Board of Directors

The Board of Directors oversees the management of the OEB’s business and affairs, and is responsible for the governance of the OEB. The Chair of the Board of Directors is accountable to the Minister of Energy for the effective delivery of the OEB’s mandate and for ensuring the independence of decision-making by Commissioners and others that carry out the OEB’s adjudication work. An Adjudication Committee of the Board of Directors receives information from the Chief Commissioner on the efficiency and timeliness of our adjudication work, and reports that information to the Board of Directors.

January 31, 2024 - The Province of Ontario has recently appointed Carla Carmichael to the OEB’s Board of Directors. Ms. Carmichael is a senior leader with more than 30 years of experience in financial, commercial and strategic risk management, as well as infrastructure project planning and execution. She brings to the Board significant energy industry expertise including a strong focus on nuclear finance, rate regulation and projects, which she gained while working at Ontario Power Generation for more than 14 years. She currently serves as a council member on the Council for Clean and Reliable Energy and on the Board of Governors for Ontario Tech University.

With the addition of Ms. Carmichael, the Board will continue its work to support the OEB through the energy transition, to strengthen public trust and provide strong leadership and good governance.

“On behalf of my colleagues on the Board, we look forward to working with Carla and welcome the knowledge and experience she brings to the governance and oversight of the OEB.” ~ Glenn O’Farrell, Acting Chair of the OEB Board of Directors
