The OEB’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Shahrzad Rahbar to the role of part-time Commissioner effective January 1, 2025. Dr. Rahbar joins an existing complement of highly qualified and dedicated Commissioners who collectively work to achieve adjudicative excellence.

The OEB has published its summary of the stakeholder input shared at Policy Day 2024 on October 16, 2024. Discussions focused on a range of current and emerging issues facing the energy sector, including a rate-setting framework for the future, youth engagement, building our energy sector workforce, grid modernization, future utility models and advancing adjudicative priorities. Policy Day is the OEB’s annual opportunity for us to provide a progress report to the sector and for stakeholders to offer input into strategic priorities guiding our forward work plan.

The OEB has issued a Bulletin providing staff’s guidance and expectations for electricity distributors in meeting their regulatory obligations to ensure timely customer connections. The expectations set out in this Bulletin will be taken into consideration by OEB staff in any compliance review or inspection regarding new load connections. 

The OEB has issued a letter that provides the calculations for 2025 preliminary Uniform Transmission Rates (UTRs) and facilitates their implementation in applicable 2025 electricity distributor rate applications for distributors with an effective date of January 1, 2025. The OEB is issuing preliminary UTRs to improve regulatory efficiency.

The OEB has issued a letter which sets out the Cost of Capital Parameter Updates for cost-based rates applications that have an effective date commencing in 2025.

The OEB has posted Price Comparison templates for Natural Gas Contracts for Utilities Kingston valid from November 1, 2024 - January 31, 2025.

The OEB has issued a Staff Bulletin reminding licensed electricity distributors of their obligation under the Distribution System Code (DSC) to provide access to specific forms and information to facilitate connection of generation and storage facilities (Distributed Energy Resources or DERs) to the distribution system. Access to information supports customer choice by ensuring customers understand both technical and non-technical requirements, enabling informed investment decisions.
