The OEB has launched an initiative to provide greater clarity to the sector on incentive mechanisms to encourage the use of distributed energy resources (DERs) as non-wires solutions. Through proposed amendments to the Distribution System Code, the OEB is establishing a default value, eligibility criteria and other requirements for electricity distributors applying for a margin on payments incentive to use third-party DERs to meet an electricity distribution system need. The OEB invites stakeholders to provide feedback on its Notice of Proposal to amend the Distribution System Code by June 9, 2025.
