James Sidlofsky has been appointed as a full-time Commissioner effective March 1, 2026, bringing more than 25 years of legal experience in Ontario’s energy sector. From 2000 to 2017, he was a member of the Energy Markets Group at Borden Ladner Gervais, LLP, representing Ontario electricity distributors in rate and consolidation applications, and on licensing and compliance matters; generators on applications for leave to construct transmission lines; and municipalities and large consumers in matters before both the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) and National Energy Board. In 2017, Mr. Sidlofsky joined the OEB’s Legal Division, serving as staff counsel on major electricity distribution and transmission rate applications; applications for leave to construct electricity transmission lines and natural gas pipelines; compliance and Code amendment proceedings; and a variety of OEB policy initiatives. Mr. Sidlofsky holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto, an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Philosophy Major/Spanish Minor) from the University of Guelph, and a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario.
