The Government of Ontario, on the recommendation of the Honourable Stephen Lecce, Minister of Energy and Mines, has appointed Geoff Owen as Chair of the OEB’s Board of Directors. Mr. Owen joined the Board in 2021 and served as Vice Chair since 2024 and Acting Chair since April 2025.

Mr. Owen assumes his role at a pivotal time, as the Ontario Energy Board begins to deliver on the Minister of Energy and Mines’ Integrated Energy Plan Directive and continues carrying out our core regulatory responsibilities while supporting Ontario’s economic, social and environmental development. 

The OEB has updated its Open Data files with 2024 Reporting and Record-keeping Requirement (RRR) data, including updates to the newer electricity transmitter data that was added last year. Data integrity and consistency have been improved across all categories, covering both 2024 and earlier years. Four interactive Dashboards have also been refreshed with 2024 RRR data. These dashboards provide comprehensive insights on industry trends, distributor performance, and allow for customized data visualization and convenient performance comparisons.

The OEB is initiating a review of regional and bulk electricity system planning processes that are more efficient, flexible and responsive to better match the demand needs of Ontario. To support this review, an Advisory Group is being established to explore opportunities to enhance the planning process. Letters of interest from stakeholders to the OEB about participating in this advisory group should be emailed to registrar@oeb.ca by September 12, 2025.
