The OEB has released its Review of Ontario's Regional and Bulk Electricity Planning Processes, a report to the Ministry of Energy and Mines. The report sets out recommendations that will improve regional and bulk electricity planning processes by clarifying responsibilities, expectations and processes for the benefit of planning participants, municipalities, Indigenous communities and electricity consumers. Process improvements are expected to result in integrated, co-ordinated and cost-effective plans that will guide prudent investment by Ontario’s electricity distributors and transmitters and support the province’s economic growth.

The OEB has issued a letter that establishes a recurring quarterly schedule and process to submit capacity data for the Centralized Capacity Information Map (CCIM). Providing easier access to standardized grid capacity data across the province, the CCIM supports investment, electrification and economic growth while helping stakeholders make better-informed planning decisions.

The OEB has released its Report to the Minister of Energy and Mines on the Valuation of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs), which provides recommendations on the regulatory and compensation frameworks to appropriately reflect the system value of DERs. It also considers DER delivery rates that, along with DER compensation, constitute the overall incentives available for DER proponents. This work is aligned with the Ontario government’s goal of keeping energy costs affordable for businesses and families.
