The OEB has posted a Directive from the Minister of Energy regarding the development of new transmission lines in southwestern Ontario and a related Order in Council regarding the priority status of some of these projects.

The OEB has developed a Framework for Review of Intervenor Processes and Cost Awards, which identifies potential initiatives to enhance the OEB’s adjudicative process, particularly the role of intervenors within it, and seeks feedback from stakeholders.

The OEB has launched a new online portal for filing licence applications, a key commitment in the OEB’s Digital First strategy. The portal is now open for Electricity Wholesalers to file licence applications online and use a new e-payment service. The remaining licence types will become available over the coming weeks, along with additional functionality enhancements.

The OEB has issued a letter setting out the OEB’s plan for the Reliability and Power Quality Review, after considering customer and other stakeholder feedback. A working group will be established to provide input on technical issues and challenges. Stakeholders interested in participating in the working group are invited to write to the OEB by April 15, 2022.

The OEB has released its Natural Gas Facilities Handbook. The Handbook brings together the legislative and policy frameworks applicable to different types of applications that regularly come before the OEB for natural gas facilities approvals, including filing requirements based on OEB practice.

The OEB has implemented the launch of a pilot initiative that will see final decisions and final rate orders issued twice a week.

The Ontario Energy Board and Independent Electricity System Operator are working with local electricity distributors and technology companies to help communities and businesses contribute to the province’s energy future. Four projects, representing a total investment of $37 million, will accelerate the adoption of local energy projects to help communities play an increasing role in providing for their own energy needs.

The OEB has posted Price Comparison templates for Natural Gas Contracts for Enbridge and EPCOR (Aylmer) valid from April 1 - June 30, 2022.
