The OEB has published the 2019 Scorecards of Electricity Distributors. The scorecard measures how well Ontario’s electricity distributors are performing each year.
The OEB has posted Price Comparison templates for Electricity Contracts valid from November 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021.
The OEB has released an updated variance settlement factor that is to be used by electricity distributors to calculate a one-time credit or charge for consumers who choose to stop purchasing electricity through the Regulated Price Plan. This factor is called the "Final RPP Variance Settlement Factor" and is updated on the OEB website monthly.
The OEB has approved separate agreements, one between Ontario Power Generation Inc. (OPG) and the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), and the other between Portlands Energy Centre L.P. (PEC LP) and the IESO, which establish a process for assessing ongoing compliance with the “must offer” condition in OPG’s and PEC LP’s generation licences. The must offer condition, which the OEB added to the licences on April 9, 2020 following the acquisition by PEC LP (an OPG subsidiary) of additional generation facilities, requires OPG and PEC LP to offer all available generating capacity into the electricity markets administered by the IESO.

The OEB has accepted an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance from ONIT Energy Ltd. following an OEB inspection into customers that were entered into electricity retail contracts or supplied natural gas without valid customer authorization. The inspection found that ONIT Energy Ltd. did not comply with certain provisions of the OEB’s Electricity Retailer Code of Conduct and Retail Settlement Code. This reflects the OEB’s commitment to protecting consumers by ensuring that regulated companies fulfil all of their regulatory requirements.
The OEB has accepted an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance from Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. following an OEB inspection into the company’s disconnection practices. The inspection found that Newmarket-Tay Power Distribution Ltd. did not comply with certain regulatory requirements for disconnection. This reflects the OEB’s commitment to protecting consumers by ensuring that regulated companies fulfil all of their regulatory requirements prior to disconnecting a customer.
